In 1931 two amateur (HAM) operators began searching for a better microphone for their radio transmitters. Brush Labs was at that time experimenting with Rochelle Salts for sound pick-up. Astatic's founders, Chorpening and Woodworth found that the salt crystals made a good sounding, durable microphone that was free of static. This is how the Astatic name was founded. Astatic is known through out the audio industry as a pioneer in transducer technology from crystal cartridges and pick-ups to dynamic and condenser microphone capsules.

Today, Astatic emphasizes it's brand commitment as an installation audio manufacture with invigorated sales and engineering departments. Their variable polar pattern design makes the condenser microphones suitable for any installation in any acoustic environment. All of the Astatic products are designed and marketed with the professional audio installer in mind. Rest assured when you see the Astatic name, you can expect commercial quality products.
